Reference Recipe

  • Hook Wide-gap egg/scud hook, 12-16
  • Thread Fluoro pink or orange 6/0

Materials

  • Egg yarn (McFly foam / glo-bug) Egg color (2-3 short lengths)
  • Krystal Flash Pearl flashabou (small veil)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread mid-shank and build a short thread base.
  2. Cut two or three lengths of egg yarn, hold them across the top of the shank, and bind them at the middle with tight thread wraps.
  3. Add a small veil of pearl Krystal Flash over the yarn for the sparkle that names the fly.
  4. Gather all the yarn and flash upright and trim across top and bottom into a round egg cluster.
  5. Whip finish at the tie-in point, keeping the head tiny.
  6. Round the egg with sharp scissors and add a drop of cement at the thread.
