Classic Recipe

  • Hook 3x streamer, 2-6
  • Thread Red 6/0

Materials

  • Eyes Dumbbell (1 pair)
  • Belly wing Gold Kreinik flash (full clump)
  • Top wing Silver Kreinik flash (full clump)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the 3x streamer hook and lash the dumbbell eyes on top of the shank about one-third back from the eye.
  2. Run thread to behind the eyes and tie in a full clump of gold Kreinik flash as the belly wing, extending about two shank lengths.
  3. Turn the hook over in the vise so the point rides up.
  4. Tie in a full clump of silver Kreinik flash over the top (now the upper wing), matching the length.
  5. Build a neat thread head at the eyes, whip finish and cement.

Substitutions

  • Wing instead of Flashabou: Gold + silver Flashabou mixed — The classic two-tone; Holographic Flashabou — More color shift
  • Body instead of Flat tinsel: Pearl braid — Faster to wrap
