Streamer · Smallmouth Bass · Largemouth Bass · Panfish · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook 2X-long streamer hook, 6-10
- Thread Black Flat waxed nylon
Materials
- Dumbbell eyes Black mono eyes small (1 pair, lead)
- CK Crittermite tail (ultrasuede) Black/brown material (1, tail)
- CCT Body Fur or dubbing Black/brown dubbing (body)
- Round rubber legs Black/brown rubber legs (2 pairs)
- Super glue - (as needed)
How to tie it
- Bind black lead dumbbell eyes on top of the shank a short way back from the eye (they flip the fly to ride hook-up); figure-8, lock, and glue.
- Start at the bend and lash the CK Crittermite ultrasuede tail flat on top, trailing about a shank length; soak the wrap with glue.
- Tie in a pair of round rubber legs at the tail, splayed.
- Build a segmented body of dubbed body fur (or chenille) forward, adding a second pair of rubber legs at the midpoint with figure-8 wraps.
- Bring the body up to the eyes, then figure-8 dubbing around and in front of them.
- Whip finish behind the hook eye, pick out the body for a buggy hellgrammite look, and trim the legs to length.
