  • Hook Curved caddis/klinkhammer hook, 10-16
  • Thread Tan 8/0

Materials

  • Poly yarn White poly yarn (upright post)
  • Superfine dubbing Tan dubbing (abdomen)
  • Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (1-2 strands, thorax)
  • Dry hackle Blue dun or ginger dry hackle (5-6 turns, oversize)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread at the 60% mark and tie in an upright white poly-yarn post; build a thread base up the post to stiffen it.
  2. Carry thread down and around the curve to the start of the bend.
  3. Dub a slender tapered abdomen from the bend up to the post base.
  4. Tie in one or two peacock herls and an oversize dry hackle at the post base.
  5. Wrap the herl into a plump thorax collar around the post.
  6. Wind the hackle 5-6 turns down around the post, parachute-style, and tie off beneath the thorax.
  7. Whip finish behind the eye, cement the post base, and trim the post to about a shank-length stub.
