Start thread and run to the bend. Bind a thin strip of tan foam in at the bend, wrap thread forward, then fold the foam over and lash it down at the 60% mark to form a segmented over-body.
Knot 6 pheasant-tail fibers each with a single overhand knot for the 'knees,' then tie 3 down each side splayed back and trailing well past the bend. The trailing legs are the fly.
Tie in a small tuft of deer hair as a low wing over the body.
Optional: bind a square of orange foam on top as a sighter.
Wind 3-4 turns of brown hackle through the front, figure-8ing around the leg roots to keep them splayed.
