Tyer Recipe

  • Hook dry fly / standard, 12-16
  • Thread tan 8/0

Materials

  • body Tan/brown crust accent (dry-fly dubbing)
  • wing Mottled brown pectoral fins (turkey wing quill slip)
  • hackle Brown hackle (1-2 dry feathers)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and wrap to the bend.
  2. Dub a tan-brown body forward to about one-third behind the eye.
  3. Tie in a mottled turkey wing-quill slip as a tent-style down-wing over the body, reaching to the bend.
  4. Tie in and wrap a brown dry hackle collar.
  5. Trim the hackle flush underneath if desired to sit the fly low, then whip finish.
