Slide the gold bead on, smash the barb and lay a thread base back to the bend.
Tie in a shank-length olive marabou clump for the tail, then a brown clump the same length on top, then a black clump on top of that for a three-color tail.
Leave the marabou butts long, spiral the thread forward over them to build a smooth underbody, then trim.
Tie in a few strands of pearl Mirage lateral scale at the tail, folded around the tie-in point.
Tie in brassy copper wire at the base of the tail for the rib.
Tie in several peacock herls and wrap them forward to build the body up to the bead.
Tie in a furnace hackle at the front and palmer it rearward to the tail, then counter-wrap the copper wire forward through the hackle to lock it and helicopter off the wire.
Build a small head behind the bead, whip finish and cement.
