Tyer Recipe

  • Hook standard wet fly, 10-14
  • Thread black 8/0

Materials

  • floss Yellow floss (tag)
  • golden pheasant tippet Orange/black golden pheasant tippet (small bunch (tail))
  • peacock herl Natural peacock herl (body)
  • hen hackle Brown/furnace hackle (1 feather (collar))

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and lay a base to above the barb.
  2. Form a short yellow floss tag at the bend.
  3. Tie in a small bunch of golden pheasant tippet fibers as a tail over the tag.
  4. Tie in bronze peacock herl and wrap a plump body forward to just behind the eye; tie off.
  5. Tie in a brown hen hackle and take 2 turns as a soft collar; sweep back and secure.
  6. Form a neat head and whip finish.
