Tail fibers Natural case (Four to six fibers of hair, hackle or squirrel tail)
Dubbing Rusty brown (Enough for a slim cigar body plus a small amount to finish the head)
Zelon (wing tuft) Light dun / natural zelon (A short, fairly sparse clump)
How to tie it
Start the thread and tie in a very sparse tail of four to six fibers at the bend, short, and bind it down well.
Dub a slim, cigar-shaped rusty brown body forward over about two-thirds of the shank, plus a touch more.
Tie in a short clump of Zelon on top at the front of the body, angled back so the tips reach only to about the barb of the hook, with about three turns of thread.
Trim the Zelon butts off in front and bind the cut ends down well.
Dub a little more rusty brown over the trimmed butts to cover them and form the head, leaving the Zelon standing as a stubby emerging wing.
