Classic Recipe
- Hook Standard wet, 10-14
- Thread Black 8/0
Materials
- Tail GP crest (small)
- Body Black seal or sub (dubbed)
- Rib Silver oval (fine)
- Body hackle Black, palmered (full)
- Head hackle Brown hackle (collar)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and run thread to the bend.
- Tie in a small golden pheasant crest as a tail, curving up, half a shank long.
- Catch in the fine silver oval rib and a black cock hackle by the tip, then dub a black seal-fur body forward to one-third behind the eye.
- Palmer the black hackle forward through the body in open turns, then follow with the oval rib the other way to lock the stem; tie off and snip.
- Tie in a brown hen hackle at the front and take 2-3 turns as a soft front collar, sweeping it back.
- Build a neat head, whip finish and varnish.
