Start the olive thread and run it back so the tying point sits just ahead of the hook point, above the barb.
Bind in the Peacock Mylar #16 orange side up, so the peacock side shows when it is wrapped.
Dub Peacock Arizona Peacock Dub onto the thread and wrap a slim body forward, tapering slightly thicker, stopping at two-thirds of the shank.
Rib forward with wide open turns of the mylar and tie off.
Press a thumbnail against the body and sweep the stray dubbing fibers back along it; they trap air and give the pattern life.
Bind in a slip of Golden Pheasant Tail at the two-thirds point, pointing back over the body, for the wingcase.
Dub a loose, buggy thorax of Peacock Ice Dub forward, leaving plenty of room behind the eye.
Pull the wingcase forward over the thorax and bind it down. Pick out a little of the Ice Dub underneath with a bodkin as a throat.
Pinch a clump of Pheasant Rump, pull out the short fibers, and bind the clump in on top with tips reaching to about the end of the body; bind the butts back so they are easy to cover. Fold the fibers back with a few thread wraps and pick out any short stray fibers.
Build a thread head, brush a light coat of Solarez over the head (and the wingcase if you like), and cure.
