How to tie it
Lay a thread base and tie in an upright divided wing of grey mallard flank one shank length tall at the 70% mark; post it with thread wraps in front and figure-eights between.
Tie in a tail of stiff brown hackle fibers one shank length long at the bend.
Tie in two bronze peacock herls and twist them around the thread for durability, then wind a plump herl abdomen up to the wing. The peacock body is what separates the Queen from generic mayfly dries.
Tie in a brown cock hackle behind the wing and wind 2 turns behind and 3 in front of the wing.
