How to tie it
Start thread behind the eye and build a nice tight thread base all the way to the barb, back up and down again so it cannot slip or rotate.
Cut a bundle of fusion fiber about a quarter-pencil thick, fold it over and cut it in half to double it (about half a pencil), fold it around the top of the shank and roll/spin it in your fingers to encircle the whole shank; sweep everything rearward and tie it down tight near the barb, then cover the shank forward again to hide the flash.
Trim the tail: blunt-cut the tip square, then hold the scissors horizontally and thin the fibers to give the tail some depth.
Tie in about 10-11 inches of wire tip-first on the far side of the shank, wrap forward to just short of the eye, clean up, then wrap back to the big thread bump; force the wire down and around with your thumb, pass the tip through the hook eye and pull tight to leave two wire strands riding along the top of the shank (a built-in bite trace).
Clean up all the wraps back over the bend and the material tie-in, then move the thread to just behind the eye.
Whip finish around the wire using a four-turn hand whip finish (pulling the wire through with your thumb), since the wire is in the way of a tool.
Run two or three beads of UV resin (Loon) up and down the thread, smear it tight into the wraps with a finger for full coverage, and cure it; then run Hard-as-Hull over the same area and let it dry.
Slip the body tubing over the front, open the end slightly, and slowly melt it with a lighter held well away, pushing it down to form the head.
