How to tie it
Pinch the barb down on a wide-gap saltwater hook and build a light thread base along the shank.
Leave most of the shank exposed. Take a clump of EP fibers (Game Changer blend, green/olive) about 4 inches long and tie it in behind the bend of the hook so it trails rearward. This forms the long needlefish body, and tying it behind the point keeps it from fouling the hook on the cast. The fibers taper naturally to a bait-fish profile.
Tie in a few strands of silver crystal flash over the fibers for extra flash.
Take a small amount of EP fiber and wrap it over the exposed hook shank to give the green needlefish look and hide the thread. Bring the thread forward and lock everything in with a few wraps, switching hands for the final turns.
Whip finish and remove the excess thread. Coat the thread wraps with clear nail polish, and add a couple of coats where the fibers meet the shank so they hold together and won't foul in flight. Optionally add a stick-on eye.
