Classic Recipe

  • Hook Articulated, 1/0-2
  • Thread Tan/olive 140D

Materials

  • Rear Rabbit strip + flash (full)
  • Front Crosscut rabbit palmered (dense)
  • Head Wool or Laser Dub, trimmed (blunt)
  • Legs Rubber (pairs)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the rear hook of the articulated pair and tie in a rabbit strip trailing a full shank past the bend, plus a few strands of flash.
  2. Connect the front shank to the rear hook with wire or braid, binding it firmly and cementing the joint.
  3. Tie in a crosscut rabbit strip at the back of the front shank and palmer it densely forward for a full, breathing body.
  4. Tie in a pair of rubber legs on each side so they kick out.
  5. At the head, stack wool or Laser Dub, then trim it to a blunt, flat wedge that pushes water at slow speeds.
  6. Whip finish and cement.
