How to tie it
Start black thread behind the eye and run it back to the bend.
Tie in a small tuft of yellow calf tail as a tail a little short of one shank length. Don't be too sparse. This is meant to be a fuzzy fly.
Bind the calf tail butts forward with loose open wraps to bulk out the underbody, then trim.
Take the thread back to the tail and tie in the medium black holographic tinsel.
Tie in the chartreuse cactus chenille at the rear, then take the thread forward to the front where the hackle will go.
Rough up the cactus chenille fibers, then wrap it forward with each turn tight against the last so the chenille core lays down a solid green underbody. Tie off near the eye and trim.
Counter-wrap the black tinsel forward with three or four evenly spaced turns and tie off.
Tie in the olive soft hackle, trim the excess, and take one to one and a half turns. Plenty for this fly. Tie off.
Sweep the hackle back, build a decent-sized nymph head, whip finish and trim the leftover feather tip.
