Slide the 7/64" black bead onto the size 12 Daiichi 1280, push it back down the shank, and mount the 12/0 wine thread right behind the hook eye.
Tie a small piece of White Uni-Stretch in behind the eye for the gills and secure it, wrapping back up behind the eye. Slide the material back, whip finish there and cut the thread, then trim the Uni-Stretch.
Slide the bead back up over the gill wraps. Use the White Uni-Stretch to build the underbody, running halfway down the hook and spinning it counterclockwise to flatten it, then back up; half hitch right behind the bead and cut it off.
Remount the thread at the bottom of the underbody taper and wind it back up to just behind the bead, then trim the excess.
Tie the Micro Wine Stretch Tubing in right behind the bead, catching it by the tip, then stretch it hard and wind it down to the bend of the hook.
Wet four strands of Gun Metal Grey Flashabou to kill the static and tie them in just in front of where the tubing stopped — three strands on a size 14, two on a size 16.
Wind the thread back up to right behind the eye, catching the tag end of the tubing just before you get there so it lies flat and the underbody stays smooth.
Wind the rib first: seven or eight evenly spaced turns of the stretch tubing up the body. Keep it stretched while you cut off the excess, pushing the thread out of the way with your left hand.
Wind the Flashabou forward in between the rib turns and tie it off on top right behind the collar; cut the excess and whip finish, then trim the thread.
Coat the fly with UV resin and cure it under the light.
