How to tie it
Run black thread to the rear and tie in the small silver oval tinsel rib, leaving it as long as the finished body and keeping it on the underside.
Tie in the large Mylar tinsel, wrap it back to the hook point and then forward again, keeping the tag ends underneath. Turn the vise toward you to check.
Wrap the Mylar body silver side out: one tight turn at the back, then forward to the front. If any black thread shows through, come forward with a second pass.
Counter-wind the oval tinsel rib forward, one turn at the back first, tie off and trim.
Take the thread to the rear of the head area. Tie in a long clump of white bucktail as the first wing layer (do NOT stack it. You want a ragged, staggered look) longer than the hook. Turn the vise to check that it is dead on top, then take a few hard wraps and trim carefully.
Tie a similar-sized clump of olive bucktail directly over the white, slightly shorter.
Tie a similar-sized clump of brown bucktail over the olive, shorter again. Trimming each successive clump shorter and cutting the butts at an angle slopes the head instead of leaving it blocky.
Take the thread back over the butts with soft wraps and then forward again to build a smoothly tapered head.
