Reference Recipe

  • Hook Jig nymph hook, 2XL, 14
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold or copper slotted tungsten bead (1, 2.8mm)
  • Brown goose biots (tail) Brown goose biots (2)
  • Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (3-4)
  • Fine wire rib Gold wire (1 strand)
  • White goose biots (horns) White goose biots (2)
  • Hen or partridge collar (optional) Brown hen hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the slotted bead at the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in two brown biots at the bend, splayed into a V for the tails a half shank long.
  3. Bind in gold wire and the peacock herl, wrap the herl forward to just behind the bead for the body, then counter-rib with 4-5 turns of gold wire and break off the tag.
  4. Tie in two white biots over the top so they sweep back over the body as the signature Prince horns, splayed in a shallow V.
  5. If using, wind one turn of brown hen as a collar and sweep it back.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
