  • Thread Pale yellow or tan 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold bead (1, 2.5mm)
  • Coq de Leon fibers (tail) Speckled coq de leon fibers (3)
  • PMD / pale amber dubbing abdomen Pale amber dubbing (pinch)
  • Fine wire rib Gold wire (1 strand)
  • Hare's ear / brown thorax dubbing Brown dubbing (small pinch)
  • Wingcase (Thin Skin or flash) Brown/pearl wing slip (1 slip)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the gold slotted bead at the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in three Coq de Leon fibers for a tail a half shank long.
  3. Bind in fine gold wire, then dub a slim pale-amber abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
  4. Counter-rib with 5 open turns of gold wire and break off the tag.
  5. Tie in a wingcase slip pointing rearward, dub a brown thorax over the front, then fold the wingcase forward and pin it behind the bead.
  6. Pick out a few thorax fibers as legs, whip finish behind the bead, and add a tiny drop of cement.
