Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Jig nymph hook, 2XL, 12
  • Thread Brown or black 6/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Copper or black slotted tungsten bead (1, 3.0mm)
  • Round rubber legs Barred brown or black rubber legs (3 pairs)
  • Hare's ear or Ice dub body Brown/black dubbing (for body)
  • Fine wire rib Copper wire (1 strand)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the slotted bead at the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a pair of rubber legs at the bend splayed into a tail-fork, and catch in a length of copper wire for the rib.
  3. Dub a buggy body forward to the 60% mark, keeping it rough.
  4. Rib forward with 5 open counter-wrapped turns of copper wire and break off the tag.
  5. Tie in a pair of rubber legs on each side at the thorax so they stick out perpendicular, then dub a fatter thorax over the tie-ins to lock and separate them.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
