Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Jig nymph hook, 14
  • Thread Brown or black 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Copper or black slotted tungsten bead (1, 2.8mm)
  • Fine round rubber legs Barred brown or black rubber legs (2-3 pairs)
  • Hare's ear or Ice dub body Brown/black dubbing (for body)
  • Fine wire rib Copper wire (1 strand)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the slotted bead at the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a short pair of fine rubber legs at the bend for stub tails, and catch in a strand of copper wire.
  3. Dub a compact buggy body forward to the 60% mark.
  4. Counter-rib with 4-5 open turns of copper wire and break off the tag.
  5. Add a pair of short rubber legs on each side at the thorax, trimmed close so they twitch without waving, then dub a small thorax over the tie-ins.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
