Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Jig nymph hook, 14
- Thread Olive 8/0
Materials
- Slotted tungsten bead Copper or black slotted tungsten bead (1, 2.8mm)
- Antron or Ice dub abdomen Caddis green (pinch)
- Fine wire rib Gold wire (1 strand)
- Hare's ear or peacock dubbing thorax Brown peacock herl (pinch)
- Partridge / hen soft hackle Brown hen hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
- Seat the slotted bead at the eye and start thread behind it.
- Tie in a strand of gold wire at the bend for the rib.
- Dub a slim, slightly translucent caddis-green abdomen forward to the 65% mark.
- Counter-wrap the gold wire in 5-6 open turns for segmentation and break off the tag.
- Dub a fatter, buggier brown thorax over the front third to suggest the swelling pupa.
- Wind one turn of brown partridge as a soft-hackle collar, sweep it back and pin it so the fibers sweep along the body as legs.
- Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
