Thread Glo-Brite No. 8 orange (body), black to finish Glo-Brite floss and 18/0 Nano Silk
Materials
Slotted tungsten bead Copper or coffee (1, 2.8mm)
Lead wire Natural lead wire (5 wraps of .010)
Permanent marker Woodsy brown (For the two-tone back)
UV resin Clear uv resin (Generous coat)
Superfine dubbing Brown dubbing (Tiny pinch (collar))
How to tie it
Seat the 2.8mm bead on the jig hook, take 5 wraps of.010 lead wire behind it, break off the ends, and push the wraps up to the bead to stabilize it.
Start the Glo-Brite No. 8 and build a gentle carrot-shaped taper with flat touching turns, working down to the start of the bend and back up a couple of times so the body has enough base that marker will not bleed through.
Color only the top of the body with the brown marker to create the two-tone look.
Spin the bobbin to cord the floss into a tight rope, then wrap open spiral ribs up the body, stopping a small space behind the bead. Whip finish; it will be covered.
Coat the whole body generously with UV resin for shine and durability and cure it thoroughly with the light.
Start the black 18/0 Nano Silk behind the bead, dub a tiny pinch of brown Superfine into a small collar-thorax, then whip finish and trim.
