Bead Matte slotted tungsten bead, dark olive or almond (4.5mm / 3/16") (1)
Weight Lead wire (0.02) wraps under the body (8-10 wraps)
Tail Strung marabou, sculpin olive (UV) or sculpin tan (UV) (1 plume)
Body Arizona Simi Seal dubbing, dark sculpin junk / bronze peacock (olive) or golden shiner (tan) (pinch)
Collar Ice Dub, peacock or golden brown (pinch)
Head/collar hackle Ostrich marabou, sculpin olive. Spun as a mobile collar/head (1-2 herls)
How to tie it
Slide the matte slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, slot forward, and seat behind the eye. Add 8-10 wraps of lead wire behind the bead and cover with thread.
At the bend, tie in a full sculpin-olive (or tan) marabou tail about one to one-and-a-half shank lengths long for a pulsing swim.
Dub a buggy Simi Seal body forward to about the 70% point.
Dub a peacock (or golden brown) Ice Dub collar for flash.
Spin ostrich marabou in a dubbing loop (or wind it) to form a broad, mobile sculpin head/collar behind the bead, sweep it back, tie off, whip finish.
The heavy tungsten bead plus jig hook sink it fast and ride it point-up so it 'swims' when jigged along the bottom where sculpins live.
