Classic Recipe

  • Hook Jig hook, 12-18
  • Thread Olive or brown 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Slotted tungsten (1)
  • Tail CDL (sparse)
  • Body Dubbing or thread (slim taper)
  • Rib Wire (spiral)
  • Collar Ice Dub or CDC (sparse)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, slot to the eye, and seat it; mount the hook so the point rides up.
  2. Start thread behind the bead and run it to the bend.
  3. Tie in a sparse few fibres of Coq de Leon as a tail, one shank long.
  4. Catch in the wire rib, then dub or wrap a slim tapered body up to just behind the bead.
  5. Counter-rib with the wire in 4-5 open turns for segmentation and durability, tie off and snip.
  6. Dub or fold in a sparse collar of Ice Dub or CDC behind the bead as a hot-spot/legs suggestion.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
