Thin Skin Dark wingcase strip (1 strip (wing case, rides on top))
Wire Semperfli 0.2mm (1 strand (body))
Crystal Flash Black holographic tinsel (3 pairs (legs))
Ice Dub Light yellow ice dub (1 noodle (thorax))
How to tie it
Slide the bead on and lay a flat, thin thread base; keep the underbody slim because many components go on top.
Tie in two goldish biots at the bend, splayed back-to-back with a pinch wrap so they split, a bit shorter than the body.
Wrap forward in touching turns to the thorax, then tie in a strip of thin skin on the underside (it becomes the top when inverted) and bind it back to the tails.
Tie in the wire down the belly and wrap the thread forward keeping it flat, then start wrapping the wire body forward.
Every four turns of wire, pull the thin skin over and pin it with the wire, then release and continue, building a segmented wing case up to the bead; tie off the wire.
Tie in black crystal flash and split it two fibers per side (three pairs of legs total), positioning them as outriggers along the thorax.
Dub a light-yellow ice dub thorax up to the bead, keeping the legs positioned.
Fold the remaining thin skin over as a wing case, trim it, tie it down behind the bead, whip finish and cement.
