  • Hook Jig nymph hook (60-degree), 6-12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Black or copper slotted tungsten bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Chenille Black chenille (medium, 1 length)
  • Round rubber legs White or barred rubber legs (3 pairs)
  • Lead wire Gray lead wire (optional, few turns)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, small hole first, and seat it against the eye; mount the hook in the vise.
  2. Start thread behind the bead and, if weighting, add a few turns of lead wire, then wrap a thread base back to the bend.
  3. Tie in one pair of rubber legs at the bend, splayed to each side, trailing one shank length for the tail set.
  4. Tie in a length of medium black chenille at the bend.
  5. At the midpoint bind in a second pair of rubber legs across the shank, figure-8 so one sticks out each side.
  6. Advance the thread to just behind the bead and tie in a third pair of legs there.
  7. Wrap the chenille forward, figure-8 around each leg pair so the legs stand out, and tie off behind the bead.
  8. Whip finish behind the bead, cement, and trim all six legs to even length.
