Bead Slotted tungsten bead, gold (3.8mm / 5/32" to match hook) (1)
Tail Stripped goose biots, brown. Split V (2)
Rib Tying wire, ice blue (small, 0.3mm) (6 in)
Body Ice Dub, UV black (pinch)
Wing Stripped goose biots, black. One each side over the body (2)
Legs Foil legs (Senyo's Fusion Foil), barred blue and purple (1-2 per side)
Collar Premium CDC, black. Dubbed or wound as a collar (1-2 feathers)
How to tie it
Slide the gold slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, slot forward, and seat it behind the eye. Start the black thread behind the bead.
At the tail, tie in two brown stripped goose biots splayed in a V about half a shank long.
Tie in the ice-blue wire at the tail; dub a slim UV-black Ice Dub body forward to about the 65% point.
Rib the body with the ice-blue wire in 4-5 evenly spaced open turns and tie off. The blue wire is a subtle flash accent.
Tie in two black stripped goose biots, one along each side over the front of the body, as the wings (Prince-nymph style but black-on-black).
Add barred blue/purple foil legs on each side.
Spin a black CDC collar in a dubbing loop (or wind a CDC feather) behind the bead, sweep the fibers back, tie off, and whip finish. The CDC gives lifelike breathing movement.
The all-black finish reads as a small black stonefly.
