Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank stinger/streamer hook plus articulated Game Changer shanks, 1-2
  • Thread White or to match GSP 100 / 210 denier

Materials

  • Game Changer / Jerk Changer shanks n/a (3-4 links plus hook)
  • Chocklett's Body Chenille (fine and standard) White/olive/to match chocklett s body chenille (several sections)
  • Hen hackle or Chocklett Filler Flash To match soft hackle (tail)
  • Sculpting / weighted head material or dumbbell n/a (1)
  • 3D eyes To match eyes (1 pair)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (head coat)

How to tie it

  1. Clamp the rear articulated shank, start the thread, and tie in a short hen-hackle tail no longer than one shank-length so the tail section stays compact.
  2. Tie in fine Chocklett's Body Chenille and wrap it forward over the shank, brushing fibers back after each turn, to build a tapered rear segment; whip finish.
  3. Connect the next shank to the rear segment through its wire loop, restart the thread, and wrap another chenille segment the same way, keeping each segment short and dense.
  4. Repeat to build three or four progressively taller linked segments, keeping the combined tail section roughly the same length as the planned head so the fly glides rather than pulses.
  5. Connect the short-shank hook as the front link and wrap the front body segment with standard (fuller) Chocklett chenille to bulk up the head area.
  6. Add a weighted keel (dumbbell or sculpting head material) under the front so the fly rides level and darts side-to-side, then wrap the head dense and firm.
  7. Whip finish, glue a 3D eye to each side of the head, and coat the head with UV resin to lock everything in place.
