How to tie it
Start the black thread at the eye and lay a smooth, slim body of black thread down around the bend to the start of the hook bend, keeping it thin like a buzzer.
Tie in the fine pearl holographic tinsel at the tail and rib it forward over the black body in 5-6 evenly spaced open turns to segment it; tie off at about the 70% point. Varnish the body for a shiny, wet-look finish.
Tie in a strip of pearl Mylar at 70% for the shellback, left pointing back.
Build a slightly fatter thorax with red holographic tinsel/dubbing over the front 30%.
Pull the pearl shellback forward over the red thorax and tie down behind the eye. The pearl-over-red gives the bright 'target' the fly is known for.
Tie in two small tufts of white Antron each side of the head as breathers, trim short, whip finish, and coat the head/shellback with UV resin or varnish.
