How to tie it
On a needle in the vise, start black thread with a jam knot leaving a long tag, tie in a short length of yellow McFlylon over the knot, wrap back about 1cm, trim the front, and leave the rear long.
Tie in a thin (3mm x 1mm) strip of black foam at the front and spiral-wrap it back to the end, then cross-hatch forward.
Tie in a couple inches of 0X tippet, catching it at the front and again mid-body so two strands project forward, then coat the whole abdomen with a light layer of super glue.
Wrap the black foam tightly forward over the glue, tie it off on top of itself, stretch and trim it to form the extended abdomen, then whip finish at the square front shoulder.
Slide the abdomen off the needle, pull the thread tag to snug the jam knot, trim, fold and trim the yellow yarn to a small hot-spot butt, and bend the body to a slight curve.
Put a #16 TMC 2487 in the vise, start black thread back to the point, cut one mono strand off the abdomen, and tie the abdomen to the shank leaving a wasp-waist gap; fold the mono back, lock it, and trim.
Tie in barred amber Sexi-Legs at their midpoint, splayed back and down along the sides.
Tie in a thicker (2x3mm) black foam strip at the eye, build a black superfine dubbing ball, tie in a poly macrame yarn wing, pull the foam over to form the thorax/head, tie down, whip finish, and cement.
