Tyer Recipe

  • Hook wet/nymph, 6-12
  • Thread Olive or tan 6/0

Materials

  • Tail Natural case (pheasant rump fibers)
  • Body Gray/olive/natural material (hare or pheasant dubbing)
  • Hackle Natural hackle (pheasant rump feather)
  • Collar Natural case (pheasant aftershaft (philoplume))

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base to the point above the barb.
  2. Tie in a tail of ringneck pheasant rump (church-window) fibers.
  3. Dub a tapered body forward to about one-third behind the eye.
  4. Tie in a pheasant rump feather by its tip and wind one or two turns as a soft hackle.
  5. Tie in a pheasant aftershaft (philoplume) feather and wind it as a fluffy collar.
  6. Build the head and whip finish.
