Terrestrial · Trout · Beginner · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2XL curved scud/nymph hook, 12-16
  • Thread Green 70 denier

Materials

  • Tungsten or brass bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Ultra chenille / vernille (body) Chartreuse-green ultra chenille vernille (1 length)
  • Fine wire (rib) Gold wire (1 length)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye and start the green thread, laying a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in the fine gold wire and a length of chartreuse-green ultra chenille at the bend.
  3. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to build a slim, even, cigar-straight body up to the bead. Inchworms have almost no taper.
  4. Rib forward with 6-7 evenly spaced wire turns to segment the body, then tie off and helicopter the wire.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement; singe or trim the chenille tag at the tail to a rounded end.
