Reference Recipe

  • Hook Dry/hopper hook, 10-12
  • Thread Fluorescent green/yellow 70 denier

Materials

  • Yarn (tail) To taste (sparkle emerger/Antron) (1 short chunk)
  • Foam strip To taste (1 (thinner than hook gap))
  • Dubbing (segments) To match dubbing (small amounts)
  • EP trigger point fibers (wing) To taste (1 clump)
  • Trigger point/foam (indicator) Hi-vis (1 tuft)
  • Grizzly micro legs Grizzly hackle (2 strands)

How to tie it

  1. Start the fluorescent thread and tie in a short, thick tuft of yarn for the tail at the bend; trim.
  2. Cut a foam strip to a point and singe the tip, add a thin base of dubbing, then tie the foam in near the tail.
  3. Advance the thread forward, adding a little dubbing between each tie-down to form about three segments in the foam body.
  4. At the front, pull the foam forward over the eye and bind it down, then fold it back to form the head.
  5. Tie in an EP trigger-point-fiber wing, building a thread dam so it angles back, then add a contrasting hi-vis indicator post on top and trim.
  6. Dub around a thread band and tie in grizzly micro legs on each side (one wrap around, both sides), then cover with dubbing and advance to the eye.
  7. Trim the head foam, wing, and legs to shape, then whip finish and add water-based head cement.
