Materials

  • Head turner or slotted tungsten bead Copper bead (1)
  • Marabou Wine (tail)
  • Ice Dub Wine (body)
  • Simi Seal Black and purple simi seal (clump dubbed collar)

How to tie it

  1. Put a copper head turner or slotted tungsten bead on an Ahrex mini jig and start claret thread.
  2. Tie in wine marabou for the tail and bind it down the body to keep everything even.
  3. Wind wine Ice Dub up the shank, leaving a little space behind the bead. That Ice Dub belly is the whole point of the fly: it lights up once the fly is wet.
  4. Clump dub black and purple Simi Seal right behind the bead, engulfing the bead and wrapping the thread around it.
  5. Pull everything back and whip finish.
  6. Brush the collar out to thin the dubbing down.
