Hunchback Scud

Reference Recipe

Lead-free wire (optional weight) (6-8 turns)
Partridge or antron fibers (tail) Tan partridge or antron fibers (few fibers)
Scud back / clear plastic strip (shellback) Clear scud back thin skin (1 strip)
Fine wire (rib) Gold wire (1 length)
Scud dubbing (body) Olive-tan scud dubbing (pinch)

Optionally add a few turns of lead-free wire, then start the thread and wrap back around the curve to the bend.
Tie in a very short tuft of partridge or antron at the bend for the tail, just a few fibers.
Tie in the fine gold wire rib and a strip of clear scud back at the bend.
Dub a plump, humped body forward to the eye, keeping the belly full so the back bulges.
Pull the scud back over the top under firm tension so it arches into a hunch, and bind it down at the eye.
Rib forward over the shellback in 5-6 evenly spaced turns to segment it, then tie off and snip the wire.
Pick out the belly dubbing for legs, whip finish and add a drop of cement.
