Reference Recipe

  • Hook Saltwater/streamer hook (e.g. Daiichi 2546), fished hook-up, 4
  • Thread White 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Fluorescent orange plummeting tungsten (5/32 in (3.8mm))
  • Body White arctic (blue) fox tail with bronzeback Flash 'n Slinky (A pinch)
  • Eyes Golden 3mm Living Eyes (Pair)
  • Egg sac Clear UV resin over hot orange (As needed)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the fluorescent orange tungsten bead to the eye and start the thread; the bead sits under the shank so the hook rides point-up (belly-scratcher style).
  2. Behind the bead tie in a sparse pinch of white arctic fox as the slim minnow body, tips extending about one shank past the bend.
  3. Add a few strands of flash over the top matched to the fox, keeping the whole profile thin and translucent.
  4. Build a smooth thread base back toward the bead and whip finish.
  5. Press a golden eye to each side just behind the bead.
  6. On the belly behind the bead, add a small drop of hot orange UV resin as the yolk, then cover it with clear UV resin to form a rounded egg sac; cure.
