Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Pike · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Wide-gap worm hook (bendback style), 1/0-4
  • Thread White or to match 6/0

Materials

  • Belly White bucktail (A pinch)
  • Flash Pearl/holographic flash (A pinch)
  • Wing/back Olive, chartreuse or tan bucktail (A pinch (guards the point))
  • Eyes Bead chain or lead (Pair)
  • Head UV resin with stick-on eyes (As needed)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread near the hook point on the straight part of the shank and figure-8 the eyes on top toward the front.
  2. Under the shank tie in a pinch of white bucktail as a belly, extending about one shank past the bend.
  3. Add a pinch of pearl and holographic flash over the belly, matched in length.
  4. On top of the shank tie in a pinch of darker bucktail so it drapes back over and shields the hook point, making the fly ride hook-up and weedless.
  5. Build a smooth thread head in front of the eyes and whip finish.
  6. Press stick-on eyes to the sides and build up the head with UV resin, curing between coats, so the head bumps over structure; keep the point clear.
