Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard nymph/wet hook, 14-18
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold or copper (metallic) bead (One, sized to hook)
  • Body Chartreuse, red or green Ultra Wire (One length (small))
  • Thorax Peacock or hare's ear dubbing (A small pinch)
  • Hackle Hungarian partridge (One feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye and start the thread behind it.
  2. Tie in the colored wire at the bend and wrap it forward in touching turns to the 75% mark for a bright segmented body; tie off and break the tag.
  3. Dub a short thorax of peacock or dark dubbing behind the bead.
  4. Tie in a partridge feather by the tip and take 2 turns of soft hackle, sweeping the fibers back.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
