Body Ultra/Brassie wire, hot colour to taste (chartreuse, red, copper) (as needed)
Thorax Peacock herl (2-3 strands)
Legs/Hackle Natural India hen (1 turn)
How to tie it
Slide a bead to the eye and lay a thread base down the shank.
Tie in two biots at the bend, splayed slightly into a short forked tail.
Tie in the coloured wire and wrap it forward in smooth touching turns over a tapered thread underbody up to the thorax area. The tight wire wraps give a bright, buggy, fast-sinking segmented body.
Secure and helicopter off the wire, then tie in 2-3 peacock herls.
Wrap the peacock herl into a plump thorax behind the bead.
Tie in a natural hen hackle and take one soft turn for legs, sweep back, whip finish behind the bead.
