Hot Wire Caddis-Beadhead

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Curved scud/caddis nymph hook, 14-18
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold or black (metallic) bead (One, sized to hook)
  • Body Chartreuse or green Ultra Wire (One length (brassie/small))
  • Thorax Peacock or dark hare's ear dubbing (A small pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye and start the thread behind it.
  2. Tie in the colored wire at the bend along the underside of the shank.
  3. Wrap the wire forward in touching turns to just behind the bead for a bright segmented larva body and tie off; helicopter the tag to break it.
  4. Dub a short, buggy thorax of peacock or dark dubbing up behind the bead.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
