Hot Wing Caddis

Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 14-18
- Thread Olive or tan 8/0
Materials
- Body Olive or tan dubbing (Thin noodle)
- Underwing Natural deer or elk hair (A small pinch)
- Hot wing Fluorescent orange poly yarn (A short tuft)
- Hackle Brown hackle (One feather)
How to tie it
- Start the thread behind the eye and lay a base back to the bend.
- Dub a thin tapered body forward to the 70% mark.
- Tie in a small pinch of deer or elk hair as a downwing over the body, tips reaching the bend.
- On top of the hair wing add a short tuft of fluorescent orange poly yarn, trimmed to sit just shy of the hook bend, as a hi-vis wing.
- Tie in a brown hackle in front of the wing and take 3-4 turns, sweeping fibers back and down.
- Build a small head, whip finish and cement.
