Materials

  • Head Turner tungsten bead Brown bead (1)
  • Wire Copper wire (One length)
  • Pheasant tail, dyed Chocolate brown (Body)
  • Ice Dub Chocolate brown (Collar)

How to tie it

  1. Set a jig hook with a brown tungsten Head Turner bead and start red thread.
  2. Tie in copper wire followed by chocolate brown pheasant tail at the rear, building a bit of a taper as you go.
  3. Leave a small red thread tag showing out the back before you start wrapping. That red butt is the first of the fly's two hot spots.
  4. Wrap the pheasant tail forward in touching turns to behind the bead and tie it off.
  5. Counter-wrap the copper wire through the body, segmentation and, more importantly, protection for the fragile pheasant tail.
  6. Tie the wire off, helicopter it out, and dub a short collar of chocolate brown Ice Dub.
  7. Whip finish leaving a band of red thread showing behind the bead as the second hot spot.
