Hot Legs Foxy Gotcha

Shrimp · Bonefish · Redfish · Sea Trout · Snook · Permit · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Saltwater hook (e.g. TMC 811S), 2-6
  • Thread Fluorescent pink 6/0

Materials

  • Eyes Bead chain or lead (Pair, sized to hook)
  • Tail Pearl mylar (A short tuft)
  • Body Pearl braid (Short length)
  • Wing Tan arctic fox tail (A pinch)
  • Legs Hot-tipped (orange) Sili Legs (Two doubled strands)

How to tie it

  1. Start the pink thread a third of the way back from the eye and figure-8 the bead-chain eyes on top, leaving room to the eye.
  2. Wrap to the bend and tie in a short tuft of pearl Mylar for the tail, no longer than a hook gap.
  3. Tie in pearl braid at the bend and wrap it forward to just behind the eyes, then figure-8 around and forward of the eyes; tie off at the hook eye.
  4. Invert the hook so the point rides up; on what is now the top, tie a pinch of tan arctic fox in front of the eyes as a wing reaching just past the tail.
  5. Double two strands of hot-tipped Sili Legs and bind them in at the same point, splayed along the sides, so a short orange tip extends just past the wing.
  6. Build a neat pink head, whip finish and cement; keep the thread wraps loose at first on the legs so they aren't cut.
