Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2XL streamer or jig hook, 8-12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Hot orange or fluorescent (metallic) bead (One, sized to hook)
  • Tail Black, olive or wine marabou (One plume)
  • Tail flash Krystal Flash (A few strands)
  • Body Matching sparkle chenille or Estaz (Short length)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the hot bead to the eye and start the thread behind it.
  2. At the bend tie in a marabou tail one and a half shank lengths long.
  3. Add a few strands of Krystal Flash over the tail, matched to the tail length.
  4. Tie in the sparkle chenille at the base of the tail.
  5. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead, sweeping the fibers back each turn, and tie off.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
