  • Thread Nanosilk or 70D color to match 12/0

Materials

  • Bead Slotted, Tungsten bead. Color and size to match your conditions
  • Body Holo Tinsel, color to match (or close). Alternatively, try pearl tied over red thread
  • Tail/Wing Micro Pine Squirrel Strips
  • Thorax Ostrich herl, color to match

How to tie it

  1. Slide the hot bead to the eye and start the thread behind it.
  2. At the bend tie in a marabou tail one and a half shank lengths long.
  3. Add a few strands of Krystal Flash over the tail, matched to the tail length.
  4. Tie in the sparkle chenille at the base of the tail.
  5. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead, sweeping the fibers back each turn, and tie off.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
