  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 6-10
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Cone head Hot orange or gold cone head (One, sized to hook)
  • Lead-free wire n/a (8-10 turns)
  • Tail Black or olive marabou (One plume)
  • Flash Krystal Flash (A few strands)
  • Body Black or olive chenille (Short length)
  • Hackle Black or grizzly saddle hackle (One saddle feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the hot cone onto the hook and up to the eye, small hole forward.
  2. Behind the cone wrap 8-10 turns of lead-free wire and shove them into the cone's rear cavity to seat it; start the thread behind the wire.
  3. Wrap to the bend and tie in a marabou tail one shank length long, then add a few strands of flash the same length.
  4. Tie in a saddle hackle by the tip and a length of chenille at the bend.
  5. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the cone and tie off.
  6. Palmer the hackle forward over the body in 5-6 open turns, tie off behind the cone, snip the tip, whip finish against the cone and cement.
