Tungsten bead, 5/64 (2mm) White bead (1, brass is fine too)
Copper wire, extra small Copper wire (rib, six or seven turns)
Holographic tinsel Reddish brown (body)
Superglue (coating)
How to tie it
Slide a 5/64 white tungsten bead onto a size 16 Daiichi 1760 and start rusty brown 8/0 thread behind it. Tungsten is optional here; brass works fine.
Tie in extra small copper wire and bind it back to about the barb.
Tie in a strand of reddish brown holographic tinsel at the rear, then finish building the thread taper forward.
Wind the holographic tinsel forward and tie it off up top.
Rib with the copper wire, six or seven turns is all you need, then tie it off and spin it out.
Spin the bobbin to flatten the thread before you wrap the collar, which is what lets you finish a nice even collar instead of a lumpy one, then whip finish.
Clean off any fuzzies and coat with superglue. Resin works but is not necessary on a fly this simple.
