Reference Recipe

  • Hook streamer (4x long), 6-10
  • Thread black 6/0

Materials

  • slotted tungsten bead (hot) Fluorescent orange or red slotted tungsten bead (1 (sized to hook))
  • marabou (tail) Black or olive marabou (1 plume)
  • Krystal Flash (tail) To match lateral scale (4-6 strands)
  • chenille (body) Black or olive chenille (one length)
  • saddle hackle (palmer) To match body (1)
  • lead wire (optional) n/a (8-10 wraps)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the hot tungsten bead to the eye. Start thread behind the bead and, if desired, add 8-10 wraps of lead and push them into the bead.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail at the bend, one shank long, and add 4-6 strands of Krystal Flash the same length.
  3. Tie in a saddle hackle by the tip and a length of chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to the bead and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off behind the bead.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
