Rib (optional) Fine copper wire to protect the hackle (1 strand)
How to tie it
Slide a fl. hot orange bead onto the hook and seat it behind the eye. The hot bead is the trigger/head of this Woolly Bugger. If weighting, wrap 8-10 turns of.020 lead-free wire behind the bead and shove them into the back of the bead to lock it.
Start olive thread behind the wire and wrap to the bend. Tie in an olive marabou tail about one shank-length long, then add 4-6 strands of olive Krystal Flash the same length over it.
Tie in an olive grizzly saddle hackle by the tip at the bend (and a strand of copper wire if ribbing), then tie in a length of olive chenille.
Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead and tie off. Trim the excess.
Palmer the grizzly hackle forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns to behind the bead and tie off. If using wire, counter-wrap it forward through the hackle to lock it, then helicopter off the excess.
Build a thread collar behind the bead, whip finish and cement. The fl. orange bead sits at the head as the hot spot.
